So, slowly, things have been getting up and running. We have several exceptional tutorials in the gallery right now that I have sought out and collected, but there are many more out there we're still missing.
Here at Equine Art Reference, we are looking for more than just tutorials. We're looking for breed sheets, coat color sheets, submissions on conformation, how to "flesh out a skeletion", Sheets on how artists individually develop a picture, the difference between drawing different breeds such as ponies vs. drafts, and we still need MANY tutorials on landscapes. We're looking for everything!
Don't forget that we also are looking for tutorial requests, and for those tutorial requests to be fulfilled.
If you have any concerns, suggestions, or questions, just note us! The only way this club is going to work is with teamwork
EDIT July 31, 2009
First of all, I would like to thank all our new members! It seems that the equine community has embraced this club, and I couldn't be happier! Thank You all!
Secondly, our gallery is still tutorial-less!
Hey there!
Whether you decide to accept our decline to add this tutorial to our gallery, we hope at least that you will visit our page and consider becoming a member yourself, and if you decline, allow us to add this remarkable instructive tool to our favorites. We sincerely appreciate your time and effort in trying to help other horse artists, and we hope to see you around the community!
Sincerely,
~Equine-Art-Reference
-----------------------------------------------------
Hello Everyone! *Crazysparkles06 here! I've been hinting a little bit at a secret project, and well, here it is! You all have been so kind and supportive to me, especially since I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and became disabled, that I wanted to give something back that would benefit everyone. I could of done one of those community pictures or something along those lines, but I knew I would never be able to include every person that has befriended me here on DA. Therefore, when an idea popped in my head I ran with it, and this is the end result.
Our Purpose
If you're like me, then you've spent hours sorting through the Search category here on DA looking for an appropriate tutorial to assist you with your current project. There are so many equine tutorials out there it is mindblowing, the hard part is finding them, and this is where EAR comes in. Our purpose is to assemble as many equine tutorials in every category that we can. That way if you are looking, for example a tutorial on how to shade manes and tails, you click on EAR, do a quick search in the gallery, and find exactly what you need.
Another purpose of EAR is to bring together people of a common interest. There are many talented equine artists on DeviantArt, and many more beginners looking to learn everything they can from their popular peers. Here, we hope that expert and novice can help each other and grow in similar knowledge.
How to Join
If you like what you see and you want to become a member of this community, it's quite simple to join. All you have to do is watch us and you are a member. No notes or comments asking for permission are required (and will be ignored if recieved)! At this time there will also be no members list. If you want to know who is a member of this club just click on the watchers tab.
What Deviations We Accept
Right now we are only accepting approved tutorials and walkthroughs. What does approved mean? Well, if you are trying to submit a tutorial on How to Draw Horses and it's nothing but stick figures, we probably wont accept it. Make sure if you are submitting a tutorial, you have a good amount of knowledge on the subject.
How to Submit a Deviation
Note us with a link to the original tutorial and a subject titled Submission, or something along those lines. Also in that note you should specify if you want comments enabled or disabled when we submit your piece. Why enable or disable, you ask? Well, some people are very busy and may not be able to answer every question people may pose (depending of course on how popular the tutorial is). If you enable comments here, other artists can try and assist the person with the question rather than having every perplexed deviant run to the creator of the tutorial. There is no right or wrong when it comes to enable/disable, and it is completely up to the individual which one they want.
All deviations in our gallery will have the name of the original artist, copywrite information, and a link to the original in the subject.
At this time, the only people who can submit deviations are the people that created them.
Our Rules
Here at EAR we only have one rule, and that is, respect each other.
There will be no flaming, rude comments, or any criticism but constructive criticism. We are all trying to help each other, so if there is a problem just send the club a note. Anyone who breaks this one rule will be given a warning, and then on the second offense be blocked. There are no exceptions.
What We Need
Since we are just starting up, we need pretty much everything. An icon, a subscription (not necessary but it would help) and well, members. We also need horse tutorials on everything, including but not limited to: Equine Conformation, Equine Photography, Photomanupilation How-to's, Photoshop, Gimp, Shading, Highlighting, Sketching, Painting, Corel Painter, Painting Models, Resculpting Models, Making Icons,Making Stamps, Making Journal CSS's, Traditional How-to's, Digital How-to's, and so on and so forth. As long as it has to do with horses, and its a tutorial, we want it!
We also need tutorials on drawing and painting backgrounds (both digitally and traditionally)! I bet you forgot about that, but it plays a big part in the bigger picture!
Request a Tutorial
If you're a good artist looking for something to do, or a novice needing a tutorial on something you cannot find in the gallery, this is the place to go! If you need a tutorial, send us a note and tell us what it is you need and we'll do the best we can to find it or place a request here! If you have completed a requested tutorial, also send us a note!
